To any of you out there in web land who are reading this blog. If you are in recovery, if you are trying to decide if Suboxone is right for you, if you are depressed, if you are a mother who struggles with mental illness or addiction, I want to hear from you. I need support. And I truly believe that support is a flow of energy. That means that if I can help you with my words, then you can help me with yours. Leave me a comment, send me a link to your blog or page. I want to widen my safety net, and I am really getting attached to reading the kind words that are left for me when I am struggling. It really does help. So, to all of you out there, say hello, or help, or whatever it is that you are thinking. I need you all.
Aw angst, please read what I just wrote to bottlecappie regarding “getting attached”….. I belong to a group of women (not addiction related) on a forum that have become my sounding board, my rock when things got ugly, my eyes when I couldn’t see, my brain when I couldn’t think and my safety net when I was falling…….
It is so important to form a network of support. We cannot afford to rely on only person to help us. Unfortunately, by holding on to one person for support, you become co-dependent. Then I’ll end up finding you on a forum called “co-dependent no more”.
I remember when I was early in recovery and I “hung” with a group of girls (women) who were just as new as I was. There were 4 of us at the time. One relapsed within a few months, we never heard from her again. Another girl ended up institutionalized for mental illness, and the last girl ended up marrying another recovering addict who was 20 years younger than her, and they upped and moved to ALASKA!! I was alone again, with my thoughts and feelings. NOT a good place for me……
That is when I became internet savvy and began in the recovery forums. They are a great source of support!
Drugs.com has a community forum dedicated to addication.
And the naabt.com site also has one!
